Give Up the Junk! Popular Music Meets Funk-Jazz
About the Band:
Give Up the Junk is an eight-piece ensemble centered in Chino Hills, CA. Known for its powerful horn-band sound, the band blends the flavors of R&B and Jazz with a funky groove that’s downright hard not to dance to! The group is made up of a prominent four-piece horn line, a tight rhythm section, and a dynamic vocal section allowing GUTJ to put its very own funky and jazzy twist to all kinds of dance music from the 60’s to Now. The Band's Primary Goal: Put on a performance of great music that gets people moving, and have fun doing it! That is precisely what GUTJ does! Over the past couple years, the ensemble has gained performance experience at regular venues such as shopping centers and bars, private receptions, large scale concerts as well as everything in between. Playing recognizable music from every decade/ style and interpreting it into a flavorful brand of danceable Jazz, Horn Funk and Soul has allowed the band to capture the eyes, ears and feet of any crowd. GUTJ provides a little something for everyone (not normally expected from a band comprised of late high school to early college aged musicians.) Despite the band’s younger age, GUTJ still continues to steal audiences of all ages and musical tastes with its unique brand of music and show. Whether you’re looking for a great show or just want something to shake your body to, Give Up the Junk is sure to make a fun and enjoyable night out of any event!
